Education

Dear Directors of kindergartens, schools and community centers,
Teachers and Educators, Parents and Guardians!

The Lublin Philharmonic, relying on many years of experience in working with children and young people, kindly invites schools, kindergartens and cultural centres in Lublin and the Lublin province to cooperate in order to create a wide range of educational programmes that will allow you to implement the core programme in a colourful and varied way. The proposed events are in a form of a music lesson, presenting music-related issues in an accessible and interesting way, tailored to the children's perceptive abilities. Young listeners, provoked to active participation in the concert, are bound to broaden their knowledge of musical instruments, composers, forms and styles of music, and build a need for communing with music in everyday life. We also organize thematic concerts: International Children's Day, Music Day, First Day of Spring, Feast of Saint Nicholas or patriotic and national concerts. Furthermore, we take this opportunity to invite you to open rehearsals of the symphony orchestra.

EDUCATIONAL AUDITIONS

MAGIC OF SOUND

„Magia Dźwięku" is an educational programme for preschoolers and primary school students, grades 1-3 and 4-6. Thematically varied, it presents live music while introducing a small audience to the world and the atmosphere of a cultural institution, which is the Philharmonic, and creating friendly mutual ties, positive associations and emotions. Musical meetings are held as a unique interactive talk about music. Young music lovers get to know composers and their works, learn the secrets of basic musical issues, forms and styles. They will learn about the most popular instruments: their structure, characteristics, properties and values. A carefully selected and professionally prepared repertoire as well as an interesting and accessible form, adapted to the age of the recipient, often combined with fun and humour, create a wide and active space for memorizing basic concepts, and encourage active participation, thanks to which young listeners also become active participants and specific co-authors of the programme.
Anna Kabulska – in charge of preparing and conducting concerts.

ACADEMY OF MUSIC AND ART

„Academy of Music and Visual Arts" is a series of concerts organized at the Philharmonic, addressed primarily to students of grades 7-8 of primary schools as well as high schools and technical schools. These meetings introduce teenagers to the world of music from the classics to the present day. The advantages of the series do not only relate to the carefully designed programme and the participation of renowned performers and speakers, but also the opportunity to present and promote young talents. Young people have the opportunity to meet both famous Polish conductors and soloists, as well as talented peers. The concerts are accompanied by lectures which give the opportunity to expand students’ existing knowledge in the field of music and art history. The series, initiated in 2011, enjoys the constant interest of schools that recognize that it is worth enriching the general knowledge of their pupils with news from the world of fine arts.

DEPARTURE AUDITIONS
LITTLE MUSIC RESEARCHERS

Monthly educational broadcasts are offered to preschoolers and primary school students. They are held in kindergartens, schools and cultural centres in the Lublin Province. During 45-minute meetings, the audience will learn about instruments: both those belonging to a symphony orchestra and folk instruments from around the world. They will find out about the power of rhythm with which the history of music began. They will get to know what a melody is and why it is important. They will discover if and why we need music. Students will be able to become more aware and attentive recipients of sound material. The theme of the concerts is part of the core curriculum of the subject of „music" in a primary school, and at the same time can become an interesting diversion in learning in the school building. The concerts are conducted by musicians from the Lublin Philharmonic, who also have teaching experience.

FAMILY CONCERTS

THE PHILHARMONIC FOR THE KIDS

„Philharmonic for a toddler" are workshop concerts for the youngest with their guardians. Unique musical meetings that allow children to be effectively led through the world of music in a very simple, logical and natural way. The technique is based on the method of an American jazz musician, pedagogue, music psychologist as well as a well-known researcher, author of numerous publications on music education, Professor Edwin E. Gordon. At our meetings, music will be a common language of communication, which is a free and natural phenomenon for young children. Everyone is born with certain musical talents, only this potential needs to be maintained. We will stimulate the senses with rhythmic swaying, dancing, rhythmizing, singing, using various percussion instruments. The instructors of the „Musical Steps" programme and the artists-musicians of the Lublin Philharmonic will take care of the artistic impressions and the conditions for the most natural and unhindered music reception by children.
Joanna Głogowska-Szychta– in charge of preparing and conducting concerts.

SUNDAY MUSIC MORNING

„Sunday Music Mornings" are concerts for whole families with children who are not less than 6 years old. Musical meetings, taking place in an extremely family atmosphere, allow both children and adults to get to know and discover the beauty of music together and experience musical adventures. It is a great alternative to spending free time together with your family, combining both fun and learning. Each concert is enriched with an interesting commentary on songs, composers and musical issues. We invite you to listen to music together and discover its secrets.

WORKSHOPS

MUSIC WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN

Music workshops are a proposal for children who want not only to listen to music, but also to perform it. Together, we will get to know the sounds of Orff’s instruments, create our own accompaniment to well-known pieces and try to play on our own body (body percussion). We will also sing, rhythmize and exercise our faces and tongues with the help of nursery rhymes and funny rhymes. Workshops are based on the concept of Carl Orff and Émile Jaques-Dalcroze and on the method of active listening to Batia Strauss's music.
Justyna Wiąckiewicz– in charge of preparing and conducting the workshops.
